<\/p>It is customary practice around the world to celebrate certain days due to historical significance. Either as a cause of celebration or a day remembered in melancholy, but today it happens to be the latter. To mark the success of Mozambican revolutionaries against the Portuguese colonizers in 1975, today is the 50th<\/sup> Independence Day celebration.\n

For each victory, great sacrifices are needed and many lay down their lives for a cause. It immortalizes them and they are forever recalled as saviours. In this case, the independence leader Eduardo Mondlane, who fought till his last breath before his assassination will always symbolize a man who flamed the fire of revolution to save his countrymen.<\/p>\n

The past carries abundant lessons if it is closely studied. Among the jubilant celebrations of the National Heroes Day, deeper introspection reveals that instead of independence, it is the revolution that is being celebrated as the driving force of change.
